For the capacities sales, the Storage Capacity Reservation Unit Price (PURC) may be defined for the sale in case of sale on the "first come, first served" basis, or may be known at the end of the sale in case of auction. All other payments are those of the current offer.
Storengy offered to the market multi-year gas storage capacities (3 years) on Serene Sud, Sediane and Sediane Littoral Storage groups, following the “first come first served” basis. 1.8 TWh has been subscribed at the 2010-2011 ATS prices.
11 GWh of Sediane Multi have been subscribed at the price of the sale of March 9 2010.
1 571 GWh of Sediane Littoral Plus product have been sold at 4.85€/MWh/year.
This auction was part of the new commercial offer of Storengy as of April 1, 2010. In addition to the basic storage products, Storengy offered to the market 3 new products: Serene Nord 120/120, Serene Sud 120/120 and Sediane Multi 60/60.
The sale, opened to all gas players, attracted 21 qualified compagnies. It took place via a secure electronic web platform, in the presenceof a bailiff and a qualified IT expert.
In total 5,418 TWh have been subscribed by 11 different companies, including 4 new Clients.
Storengy has now 30 Clients as of April 1,2010.

The remaining capacities on PITS Saline have been sold as "Saline Plus Juillet" according to the "first come, first served" basis. The Inventory level constraints have been modified to be on line with the beginning date of the contract (July1st). The other physical characteristics remain those from "Saline Plus" product.
The totality of the storage capacities, 377 Gwh, has been suscribed for the period of July, 1st, 2009 until March, 31st, 2010 at a price of 12.20 euros/MWh/year.
Storengy has offered in agreement with the Direction Générale de l'Énergie et du Climat, to complement the initial offer on a part of the 1377 GWh capacities remaining from Saline following the allocation process of April 1st 2009.
To meet clients's requests expressed during workshop organised on March 31st, 2009, slot sales were put in place on the 5th and 7th of May. The capacities put up for sale represented a total of 1077 GWh.
Following the two sales, 700 GWh of gas storage capacities were sold to 2 compagnies.

The demand exceeded the quanties proposed on sale, which were of 120 GWh.
These storage capacities are subscribed at a price of €15.35 per MWh per year (under the 2009/2010 sales conditions) from April 1st 2009 (6.00 am) until April 1st 2011 (6.00 am).
With 29 companies registered, the auction held on February 3rd 2009 for 2,5 TWh in storage capacities by Storengy attracted considerable interest in spite of a difficult economic situation.
This sale, opened to all market players, dealt with capacities proposed by Storengy new commercial offer which will take effect on April 1st 2009.
It took place via a secure electronic web platform, in the present of a bailiff and a qualified IT expert.
The storage capacities have been subscribed by 9 different companies, at prices contained between 6,90 and 15,35 euros per MWh and per year, according to different storage groups.
2,38 TWh have been allocated for the period of April 1st 2009 until March 31st 2010.

With 18 companies registered, the auction held on December 10th 2008 for 200 GWh in storage capacities at the SALINE MULTI Group for 2 years attracted considerable interest.
This brand new product has been designed for multicycle usage due to its high performance conditions and the potential for injecting and withdrawing the same volume several times a year, enabling Customers to react quickly to market opportunities throughout the year.
This sale was open to all market players, and took place via a secure electronic web platform, in the present of a bailiff and a qualified IT expert.
This sale allocated 125 GWh of storage to 5 different companies at a price of €17.35 per MWh per year.
The entire 59 GWh of gas-storage capacities in the Salins Sud storage group was sold on a first-come first-served basis on April 10th 2008.
This gas-storage capacities was subscribed to up until April 1st 2010 (6.00 am), under the sales conditions for 2008/2009, at a price of €15.25 per MWh per year.
The auction organised by Storengy of 1.052 TWh of returnable storage capacities took place on March 13th 2008, in the presence of a bailiff. This sale was open to all market players.
The returnable capacities came from storage rights for supplying end customers. It corresponded to capacities that remained unallocated on April 1st 2008 for these rights, under the current terms.
Seven companies subscribed to almost all of the capacities on offer (over 1TWh), of which 27% was type 1 and 73% type 2.

With over 25 companies bidding, the auction of around 6TWh of additional storage capacities organised on March 6th 2008 by Storengy (then the Major Infrastructures Division), was highly successful.
This sale was open to all market players, and was organised on a web-based, secure electronic platform by a bailiff and a qualified IT expert.
Almost all of the capacities on offer was subscribed to by 14 different companies at prices between €6.50 and €15.30 per MWh per year from the storage groups in question.
Nearly 6TWh were sold in all. The sale price for each storage group was as follows:

Natural gas is compressed and stored either in permeable porous rock filled naturally with water (an Aquifer layer), or in caves dug in layers of salt (Salt caverns). These underground reserves are filled up in the Summer to meet high consumption during the Winter months.
This involves storing natural gas in a former reserve that is no longer used. The reserve is converted to inject natural gas into a sealed geological structure, which has already held substances for millions of years.
French anti-terrorist regulations (Vigipirate) do not allow the general public to visit "sensitive" industrial sites. However, we do have teaching tools to explain the gas supply chain to primary school children, covering the production, transport, storage, and distribution of natural gas, as well as films explaining how gas storage works, drilling, etc.
When natural gas is stored under the ground, it cannot catch fire as there is no oxygen. However, in surface facilities, very strict safety rules are applied to eliminate any risk of inflammation (ban on smoking and using spark-producing devices, etc.).
The work will mainly mean more road traffic near the site, to bring materials or remove ballast from the excavation work. Storengy will ensure that any inconvenience due to machinery and trucks is kept to a minimum. Work supervisors will regularly inform local residents about progress and any impact the work might have on local life.

Natural gas is not toxic. Operating a storage site requires the use of chemical products that are used carefully to avoid affecting the atmosphere or polluting the ground. Runoff water is collected on the site and treated. Waste is also sorted and eliminated in line with the regulations.
We are also replacing gas-powered engines and turbines with electric motors to reduce the site’s environmental impact (by reducing the emission of combustion gases). All French storage sites are certified to ISO 14001 environmental standards.

Depleted gas or oil reserves can be converted in a fairly simple way into underground storage sites. It involves injecting natural gas into a geological formation that has previously stored hydrocarbon over several million years. The wells are tailored to their new function and a power station is installed to run the facilities.
