The two salt caverns of the Storengy storage Harsefeld are situated west of Hamburg. The storage was built in 1992 and has two storage caverns. They can be found in a depth of 1,100 - 1,700 meters. The impressive cavities are 300 meters in height and up to 50 meters in diameter. They habe a working gas volume of 111 million cubic meters.
Due to its high injection and withdrawal rate Harsefeld is used for peak shaving . With its highly responsive and powerful compressor units and its high withdrawal rate Harsefeld is ideally positioned for both flexible and reliable gas storage.
