Storengy launches a market survey for underground hydrogen storage in France
Storengy announces the launch of a market survey to identify the needs of market players for hydrogen storage along the future French transmission backbone.
A first step to confirm the pace of market development and its technical expectations
Storengy is launching a market survey aimed at hydrogen market players and project developers, to specify their hydrogen storage needs along the French section of the future backbone of the European hydrogen transport network.
The first phase of this non-binding market survey will enable us to confirm the rate of development of demand for underground hydrogen storage solutions in salt caverns and to strengthen our understanding of the technical performance expected by the market. The information gathered will help us to size projects and carry out the technical and economic studies required for their development.
Storengy is planning a second phase with interested players, to gain a deeper understanding of their needs, define the conditions for access to the infrastructure and establish the implementation procedures.
The strategic role of hydrogen storage in meeting the challenges of energy transition
France has significant potential for developing underground hydrogen storage in salt caverns in various regions. Storengy is developing these storage facilities in response to the need to decarbonise French and European industry. Storage is an essential link in the hydrogen supply chain. Combined with the transmission networks, from 2030 they will make it possible to support the supply of consumers, optimise the costs of decarbonised hydrogen and offer market players flexible, massive and secure energy storage solutions.
