Storengy associated to a large study of underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine
Storengy, one of the leading operator of underground gas storages in the world, in consortium with a top global management consulting firm and the international law firm CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang, will contribute to a comprehensive study for Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities. This strategic, technical and legal assistance project, funded by the European Union bilateral program with Ukraine, is designed to build up a sustainable business case for Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities in the context of the European and Ukrainian energy market. The study is implemented for the account of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Naftogaz and Ukrtransgaz.
The project will consist in a reliable and up-to-date analysis of the technical, commercial and legal viability of each underground gas storage facility, with recommendations in terms of their optimal use and strategic fit. Several scenarios will be generated, with a roadmap ensuring an efficient implementation.
Storengy will conduct the technical audit for each underground gas storage facility. The company will analyze subsurface, wells, surface facilities, as well as aspects of industrial safety, to propose the most optimal use of Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities.
“We are grateful to the European Commission for its continuing support in implementing the gas market reform in Ukraine. The project will enable us to use the top-quality professional advice to develop the optimal strategy for Ukraine’s unique underground gas storage infrastructure”, commented Andriy Kobolyev, CEO of Naftogaz.
“We thank the European Commission and all the Ukrainian stakeholders for choosing our consortium with Storengy as technical expert. We will provide our 60-year experience of underground gas storage operator to implement this assessment for each underground gas storage facility of Ukrtransgaz. This project strengthens Storengy’s position as a credible international business partner in the development and optimization of storage infrastructures.” declared Cécile Prévieu, CEO of Storengy.
